The head of the domestic intelligence service MI5 told lawmakers on the eve of the July 7, 2005 bombings that the country faced no imminent terrorist threat, a newspaper reported. Dame Eliza Manningham-Buller, pictured last year, gave the assurance to a meeting of top Labour MPs about 24 hours before the bombings, which cost the lives of 52 London commuters, plus the four bombers, The Guardian said(AFP/Pool/File/Andrew Stuart)
