Hurricane Beta Hits Nicaragua's East Coast (AP)

This NOAA satellite image taken Sunday, October 30, 2005 at 03:15 EST shows Hurricane Beta hovering just off the Nicaraguan coast. The storm is expected to making landfall over Nicaragua, bringing torrential rain and hurricane force winds to the country. At 1 a.m. EST the hurricane's winds had increased to nearly 110 mph (175 kph) as Beta headed toward the Nicaragua-Honduras border. The storm will weaken as it moves westward through Central America, but heavy rain will bring devastation to the region. (AP Photo/NOAA)
